Law and Justice unveils National Defense Readiness Program
The Law and Justice (PiS) party has unveiled its ‘National Defense Readiness Program’ during the Army Congress in Stalowa Wola. The program aims to prepare the entire society for potential security challenges through three primary pillars: universal military training, the creation of an active reserve for the Republic of Poland, and the ‘White Eagle Academy,’ an educational and training program for individuals under the age of 19.
Jarosław Kaczyński emphasized that national defense is essential for maintaining alliances, stating that allies are most helpful to those capable of defending themselves. Mariusz Błaszczak, the former Minister of National Defense, noted that the program is designed to deter potential aggressors by ensuring any attack on Poland meets a decisive response. Kaczyński also advocated for the continued strengthening of NATO and the development of domestic defense industries.
In response to the announcement, Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz criticized the proposal, suggesting that eight years of government and the ongoing war on the eastern border should have been sufficient to implement such a program.
