Law enforcement seizes weapons and explosives in Peru and Argentina

Law enforcement agencies in Peru and Argentina have conducted separate operations resulting in the seizure of significant quantities of weapons and ammunition.

In Peru, the Unified Pataz Command (CUPAZ) executed Operation Camilo in the Pataz province of La Libertad. During an intervention at a mine in the La Porfía annex, authorities seized over 1,000 explosives, six rifles, 510 rounds of ammunition (calibers .22, 5.56, and 9mm), two pistols, fifteen magazines, and tactical equipment. The material has been handed over to the Public Ministry for investigation into illegal possession.

In Argentina, the Gendarmería Nacional intercepted a shipment of weapons and ammunition being sent via courier on National Route 9 near Zárate. Using a portable scanner, officers detected suspicious items in a delivery truck traveling from Santa Fe toward the provinces of Salta, Misiones, Santiago del Estero, and Río Negro. The seizure included a 9mm semi-automatic pistol, a .243 Winchester repeating rifle, a .243 Winchester repeating carbine, 4,600 rounds of ammunition, and 1,400 cartridges. The case is being investigated as a potential violation of the National Weapons and Explosives Law.
