Law Society pledges £300,000 to legal sector charities
The Law Society has pledged an initial £300,000 to fund two legal sector charities over the next three years. The funding is split between LawWorks, which will receive £130,000 in the first year, and LawCare, which will receive £170,000 in the first year.
LawWorks provides free legal advice to individuals who are ineligible for legal aid and cannot afford private legal services. LawCare focuses on the mental health and wellbeing of legal professionals, including solicitors and their families, by providing emotional support and promoting sustainable working practices.
In a related leadership transition, Mark Evans will move to become the new chief executive of LawCare following the completion of his term as president of the Law Society.
