Law Society president-elect prioritizes disability inclusion
Incoming Law Society president Brett Dixon has identified disability inclusion as a primary focus for his upcoming term beginning in October 2026. Dixon aims to foster greater openness regarding disability within the legal sector through a series of national and online events designed to address the challenges faced by disabled solicitors.
To support these efforts, Dixon has committed to updating the Reasonable Adjustment Guide and developing Best Practice Guides focused on disability training, mentoring, and progression into senior leadership.
Data from The Solicitors’ Charity highlights a significant gap in disclosure: while 23% of working-age adults nationally disclose a disability, only 8% of solicitors do so. Dixon emphasized the need for an environment where discussing disability and necessary workplace support becomes a standard part of professional conversation.
