Lawal Daura claims Buhari was betrayed by sycophants

Former Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Lawal Daura, has made several claims regarding the administration of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari. Speaking in an interview on Channels Television, Daura stated that Buhari was surrounded by sycophants who betrayed the trust placed in them and took advantage of his leadership.

Daura, who is currently the vice-presidential candidate for the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), denied the existence of a cabal influencing the former president. He argued that his role as intelligence chief required constant proximity to the president, which would have made it impossible for him to be part of such a group.

Additionally, Daura addressed his past role in the blockade of the National Assembly. He asserted that he did not require permission from either the president or the acting president to take actions he deemed necessary, comparing his decision-making to that of a police officer responding to a crime. He stated that he has no regrets regarding the blockade.
