Lawmaker Ferdousi Ahmed Misti resigns following Radda health centre vandalism

Ferdousi Ahmed Misti, a reserved-seat lawmaker for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), has resigned from parliament following allegations of involvement in an attack, looting, and vandalism at the Radda MCH-FP health service centre in Mirpur, Dhaka.

The resignation follows instructions from Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman. The incident at the healthcare facility occurred around midnight on 25 September. In response to the unrest, the BNP has also dissolved its Dhaka North executive committee, along with its youth and student wing committees, and expelled 14 key party leaders.

Misti met with Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmed at the Jatiya Sangsad on Thursday to discuss the matter. While she declined to provide specific details regarding her resignation to journalists, sources indicate the move is part of a broader effort by the BNP leadership to enforce accountability and address internal misconduct.
