Lawn care tips for maintaining green grass during summer heat

To maintain a healthy, green lawn during summer heat, experts recommend specific watering and mowing strategies. Rather than frequent light watering, it is more effective to water deeply and less often, aiming to reach a soil depth of at least 20 centimeters to ensure moisture reaches the roots.

Optimal watering times are early morning, ideally between 5:00 and 9:00 AM, to prevent evaporation and avoid the risk of fungal diseases associated with evening watering. During extreme heat, a thorough watering 1–3 times per week is generally sufficient, providing approximately 2.5 to 5 cm of water.

Additionally, mowing should be adjusted by leaving the grass slightly longer. Taller blades help shade the soil, which aids in moisture retention and protects the lawn from heat stress.
