Lawra, Ghana Man Sentenced to 20 Years for Incest of Daughter
Kwame Ti-Zaarkuu, a 47‑year‑old resident of Lawra in Ghana's Upper West Region, was found guilty of incest and threatening the life of his 17‑year‑old daughter. The Lawra Circuit Court, presided over by His Honour Stanley Adjei, sentenced him to 20 years' imprisonment with hard labour for incest and a concurrent 10‑year term for the threat of death.
Investigations were led by the Upper West Regional Police Command, with DCOP Francis Yiribare confirming that the abuse spanned an extended period and was concealed by repeated death threats. Following the conviction, the court ordered the Department of Social Welfare in Lawra to provide counselling and psychosocial support to the survivor. Police praised the investigators and prosecutor for their professionalism in securing the conviction.
