Lawrence Bishnoi gang faces arrests and extradition push in US, Canada and France
Delhi police arrested three shooters linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, alleging they were preparing attacks in the capital and receiving instructions from abroad. The suspects were taken into custody as part of India’s “Operation Hard Ball,” which targets extortion, murder‑for‑hire and drug‑trafficking networks tied to the gang.
Canada’s immigration tribunal ordered the deportation of Jashandeep Singh, described as a bottom‑tier member of the Bishnoi network operating in Edmonton. Authorities said video evidence linked Singh to an extortion shooting in Surrey, British Columbia, and to the concealment of a firearm after a later shooting in Edmonton.
In the United States, the Department of Justice unsealed an indictment charging jailed gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi with racketeering, murder‑for‑hire, extortion and narcotics trafficking, and announced its intent to seek his extradition from India. The indictment also names close aide Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar and accuses the gang of plotting the 2023 killing of Canadian Sikh activist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
French police arrested Garinder Dev, a senior Bishnoi operative known by aliases such as “Doctor,” for alleged involvement in a large‑scale cocaine and heroin smuggling scheme. The arrest follows the US indictment and reflects coordinated international action under Operation Hard Ball to dismantle the gang’s transnational network.
