Lawrence Dallaglio to auction rugby memorabilia amid bankruptcy

Former England rugby captain Lawrence Dallaglio is auctioning significant pieces of his career memorabilia to address substantial financial difficulties. The 54-year-old, who was declared bankrupt last year following a divorce and debts totaling hundreds of thousands of pounds, will put his 2003 Rugby World Cup winner’s medal up for auction.

The 2003 medal, earned during England’s victory over Australia in Sydney, is estimated to be worth between £50,000 and £80,000. Other items included in the sale are his 2007 World Cup runner-up medal, a 2003 Six Nations winner’s medal, and various awards from his time with Wasps. The entire collection, which also features Man of the Year awards, could potentially raise up to £180,000.

Dallaglio, who has worked as a television pundit since retiring from professional rugby in 2008, recently spoke about his personal struggles, stating, “I could’ve done things a lot better.” The auction is scheduled to take place on October 13, 2026, organized by Budds.
