LawStreet launches free solicitor and legal aid search platform

LawStreet, a new search platform founded in 2025, has launched a free service to list all solicitor firms in England and Wales alongside legal aid data. The platform is the first in the UK to integrate the full Solicitors Regulation Authority register with data from the Legal Aid Agency, allowing users to identify which firms are capable of taking on cases involving government-funded legal help.

The site covers approximately 9,000 solicitor firms across more than 15,000 offices. Data is drawn directly from the SRA and is synced daily. Users can search by postcode, town, region, firm name, or one of 23 practice areas, including family law, conveyancing, wills, and probate.

Co-founder Johan Grefstad stated that the platform aims to close a gap where legal aid and general firm data previously existed separately. The service does not use paid rankings, sponsored listings, or paid lead generation to determine search results; instead, results are ordered by relevance to the user's search. While firms can pay for enhanced profiles, LawStreet maintains that payment does not influence search visibility.
