Lawyer Ahmet Çevik honored at memorial in Antalya

A memorial service was held by the Antalya Bar Association for Ahmet Çevik, a 43-year-old lawyer known for his human rights work, who was found dead in his home, reportedly from a heart attack.

During the ceremony, Marleen Missoni, a Congolese woman, was moved to tears while remembering the lawyer. Years ago, while Missoni was a student at Akdeniz University, she faced deportation for working part-time to support herself. Çevik successfully challenged the deportation order through the Constitutional Court, securing a landmark decision that allows international students in Turkey to engage in part-time work to sustain themselves during their studies.
