Lawyer Anabel Pitaluga reports harassment at Goiás Court of Justice

Lawyer Anabel Pitaluga has reported an incident of harassment at the Court of Justice of Goiás (TJGO), where a security guard allegedly instructed her to ‘lower her skirt’ because it was deemed too short for the judicial environment.

Pitaluga stated the encounter occurred while she was attempting to access the building to perform an oral argument. She expressed indignation over the subjective nature of the dress code enforcement, noting that she was there to practice her profession rather than attend a social event.

The TJGO has announced that its Military Cabinet is investigating the circumstances of the event and that security teams will receive new guidance regarding access protocols. The Goiás section of the Brazilian Bar Association (OAB-GO) has expressed support for the lawyer, emphasizing that dress regulations should be managed by the legal professional in accordance with federal law and that lawyers must have free access to judicial facilities.
