Lawyer assassinated in Peru and execution carried out in Iran

In Peru, lawyer Helenn Guilianna Silva Padilla was assassinated in a restobar in San Martín de Porres. Security footage captured a masked gunman approaching the mother of two from behind and firing a fatal shot to her head while she was having coffee with friends. The assailant fled the scene on a motorcycle.

In Iran, authorities executed Shahram Sadeghi following his death sentence for an attack on police officers using a vehicle. The incident occurred during the large-scale anti-government protests in January. Iranian judicial authorities stated the execution followed his conviction for actions benefiting the United States and Israel. This execution follows a period of increased capital punishment in the country.
