Lawyer assaulted by Vasco da Gama supporters in Cabo Frio

Rafael Vieira da Costa, a 39-year-old lawyer, was brutally assaulted by members of the Força Jovem Vasco organized supporters group in Cabo Frio, Rio de Janeiro. The incident occurred on Rua Porto Alegre in the Palmeiras neighborhood after the victim refused to remove a shirt belonging to the 20th Family of the Força Jovem Vasco.

According to reports, approximately 15 individuals surrounded the lawyer, demanding he surrender the garment on the grounds that he was no longer part of the group. The victim, who was a member of the group for 14 years, stated that the physical violence continued even after he lost consciousness. The assault resulted in hematomas and the loss of a tooth, following a kick to the head.

The Civil Police of Rio de Janeiro are investigating the case as bodily injury. The victim has provided video footage, medical reports, and photos of his injuries to authorities. He has also identified one of the attackers as a leader of the local branch of the supporters group. While the victim believes the severity of the injuries warrants an attempted homicide charge, the investigation remains ongoing to identify all participants.
