Lawyer Dimitar Markovski urges harsher penalties for minors who killed Georgi Kuzev in Plovdiv

A 37‑year‑old man, Georgi Kuzev, was beaten to death in Plovdiv by a group of minors who claimed to be conducting a "hunt for pedophiles." The assault lasted more than an hour, leaving the victim with severe injuries and loss of vital organs, according to forensic reports.

Lawyer Dimitar Markovski, representing Kuzev’s family, described the brutality as unprecedented in Bulgaria. He noted that the current legal maximum for intentional murder by a minor is 12 years, with the possibility of early release for good behavior, and suggested that the law be amended to raise the ceiling. Markovski said the prosecution is likely to prove the case without difficulty and emphasized that parents are not liable for the youths' actions.
