Lawyer Jorge Petrozzi resigns from Liceo Naval abuse case

Lawyer Jorge Petrozzi has resigned from representing the 16-year-old victim of alleged sexual abuse at the Liceo Naval Almirante Guise school. Petrozzi cited a breakdown in the relationship with the victim's family following a media interview granted by the minor's mother to journalist Milagros Leiva.

Petrozzi expressed strong opposition to the interview, claiming it resulted in the revictimization of the minor by revealing his identity on television. The lawyer stated that the journalist may have committed two offenses by exposing the student's name, which could carry a prison sentence of up to six years.

During his tenure, Petrozzi noted that investigations were initiated against the school's former director and two teachers. The educators are being investigated for commission by omission for allegedly failing to prevent the aggression, a charge that could carry significant penalties. The victim's family must now appoint new legal representation to continue the judicial process.
