Lawyer Kakay alleges WhatsApp censorship by Meta

Criminal lawyer Antônio Carlos de Almeida Castro, known as Kakay, has denounced Meta for imposing severe restrictions on his WhatsApp communications. The lawyer reported that he is unable to send messages to several important groups, receiving notifications that his contacts are restricted.

Kakay, who identifies with the political left, attributed these limitations to his public political stances and expressed belief that he is being monitored by the far-right. He described the situation as an “aggression to democracy” and noted that his office has advised caution regarding his social media activity.

This incident follows previous accusations against Meta regarding content moderation and potential bias during Brazilian political processes, including claims of suppressed engagement on videos related to political figures.
