Lawyer Lucas Silva Lopes found dead on Mogi Mirim road in Brazil

A 30‑year‑old lawyer, Lucas Silva Lopes, was discovered dead on a dirt road in the Luiz Torrani industrial district of Mogi Mirim, São Paulo, on Sunday. The municipal guard said the body was nude, showed visible signs of violence and was found near a completely burned vehicle, prompting speculation that the two incidents are linked.

Lopes, who had cerebral palsy and used mobility aids, held a law degree from PUC‑Campinas, a master’s in human rights from USP and was pursuing a doctorate there. He had worked as a legal specialist for Ambev, BYD Brasil and held positions in the São Paulo courts and a disability‑rights organization. The police civil and scientific police are investigating the cause of death and the possible connection to the burned car, while the community remains shocked.

Lopes’ family filed a missing‑person report after he left home on Saturday and did not return. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances of the homicide.
