Lawyer resigns in Paidiki Chara embezzlement case

Lawyer Konstantinos Tsakos has resigned from representing Konstantinos Firinidis and Vasiliki Manisioti in the investigation into the NGO Paidiki Chara. The two are accused of embezzling 2.9 million euros from charitable donations intended for sick children.

Tsakos stated that his cooperation with the defendants ended following their testimonies before the investigating magistrate. He cited disagreements regarding the future defense strategy and the manner of its public expression as the reasons for his departure.

Firinidis, the detained head of the NGO, gave a provocative interview from custody. He claimed that his use of association funds was intended as a loan to help families facing financial difficulties due to their children's needs, asserting that he intended to return the money.
