Lawyer Vijay Aggarwal detained in London following Mayfair raid

Indian criminal lawyer Vijay Aggarwal has been detained by British immigration authorities in London following a raid on his Mayfair residence. The investigation was reportedly triggered by a complaint from the property's landlord in May.

Authorities allege that Aggarwal was performing professional legal work in the United Kingdom without the necessary work permits. During the inspection of the premises, officials reportedly discovered a substantial amount of cash, the source of which remains under investigation.

Aggarwal is known for representing fugitive diamantaire Mehul Choksi, who is linked to a USD 2 billion scam. Investigations are also examining potential financial links between Choksi, Aggarwal, and the funding of the pro-Khalistan movement through a network involving lawyer Michael Polak.
