Lawyers Against Corruption condemns threat against lawyer in Taiz

The Lawyers Against Corruption network has strongly condemned a death threat issued against lawyer Abdulsalam Al-Khoulani in Taiz. Al-Khoulani, who works at the office of lawyer Basem Aref Al-Mahya, was reportedly threatened on Sunday, September 20, 2026, while performing his professional duties regarding an extortion case.

Dr. Osama Abdullatif Salam Al-Asbahi, president of the Lawyers Against Corruption network, stated that the threat is “not an ordinary incident, but an attack on justice itself.” The network warned that such intimidation tactics undermine the rule of law, the independence of the legal profession, and the right to defense.

The network has called upon the Public Prosecution and security agencies to launch an immediate and transparent investigation to identify and hold those responsible accountable. Additionally, they urged the Lawyers Syndicate to take urgent responsibility to protect its members and ensure such attacks do not recur.
