Lawyers demand stricter evaluations for elected judges in Mexico

In San Luis Potosí, Mexico, the Association of Postulating Lawyers and Specialists in Orality has called for stricter evaluation standards for 64 elected judges. Efraín Torres Salazar, president of the association, criticized the current performance of elected officials, citing “total disorder” in family courts and deficiencies in civil courts.

Torres Salazar argued that the upcoming theoretical, practical, and performance evaluations, scheduled to begin in September, should be rigorous enough to remove judges who lack necessary expertise. He proposed a minimum passing grade of nine to ensure judicial competence, noting that many judges currently lack the proper criteria for issuing sentences and agreements.
