Lawyers deny blindness risk for former President Yoon Suk Yeol

Legal representatives for former South Korean President Yoon Suk Yeol have denied recent rumors regarding his health, specifically addressing claims that he is facing a risk of blindness. Attorney Yoo Jeong-hwa stated that while it is true his eye health is not optimal, his condition has remained relatively stable following consistent treatment after a period of severe symptoms in 2025.

The defense team also refuted allegations that medical treatment is being restricted or that medication is being forcibly reduced at the Seoul Detention Center. Furthermore, they dismissed claims that Yoon has refused to meet with his legal counsel, noting that he meets with lawyers on non-trial days to discuss case progress and legal strategies.

Yoo suggested that rumors regarding his health may have been fueled by his visible weight loss. Yoon is scheduled to appear in person for trials related to insurrection charges on the 27th and 29th. Separately, First Lady Kim Keon-hee is expected to participate via video link for a hearing regarding additional arrest warrants.
