Lawyers in Chalkida announce strike following death of prominent attorney

Lawyers in Chalkida, Evia, have decided to abstain from their duties on Friday, October 30, 2026, following the death of attorney Tasia I. Georgakopoulou. The decision was made unanimously by the Board of Directors of the Chalkida Bar Association during an emergency meeting held on Thursday.

The association expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased, noting that her two children, Ioannis and Vasiliki Beligianni, are also active lawyers and members of the association. The Bar Association described Georgakopoulou as a colleague distinguished by her scientific training, ethics, and respect for others.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 15:00 at the Holy Church of Agios Nikolaos in Chalkida. During the period of professional abstention, the offices of the Bar Association at the Chalkida Judicial Building will remain closed from 12:00 until the end of business hours, though exceptions apply for urgent cases and procedural actions subject to deadlines.
