Lawyers of César Duarte dispute notification of ranch seizure

Javier Soto Orduño, the attorney for former governor César Duarte Jáquez, stated that his client has not yet received official notification from the Fiscalía General de la República (FGR) regarding the seizure of the La Magdalena ranch in Balleza, Chihuahua.

Reports indicate that personnel from the FGR and the Procuraduría Federal de Protección al Ambiente (Profepa) conducted an operation to secure the property, which allegedly housed protected species such as bison and llamas. The defense team intends to review the property's legal status to determine if it had already been seized during previous corruption investigations conducted between 2017 and 2018.

César Duarte Jáquez faces legal proceedings for embezzlement and criminal association involving approximately 96.6 million pesos. He was extradited to Mexico in June 2022 following his detention in Miami, Florida.
