LAX worker and associate charged with fentanyl possession

Two men, including an employee of a service provider at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), have been charged with possession with intent to distribute nearly 24.3 pounds of fentanyl.

Miguel Angel Tuz-Noh, 24, and Anthony Olvera, 23, both of Lennox, were arrested following an incident on August 19. According to the U.S. Department of Justice, law enforcement observed the pair attempting to exchange narcotics in a men’s restroom at an airport terminal. Upon detaining the suspects, officials discovered 10 brick-type packages of the synthetic opioid inside a duffle bag carried by Olvera.

Authorities allege the fentanyl was intended to be transported on a flight to Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport in Minnesota. Prosecutors believe Tuz-Noh has ties to a drug trafficking organization. Both defendants were released on $10,000 bonds, with arraignments scheduled for September 17. If convicted, they face potential sentences ranging from 10 years to life imprisonment.
