LayerZero unveils ATLAS exchange infrastructure for institutions
LayerZero has unveiled ATLAS (Aggregated Trading Liquidity and Settlement), a headless exchange infrastructure layer designed to provide the backend for trading platforms, brokers, and financial institutions. Built on the Zero Layer-1 blockchain, ATLAS integrates trade matching, clearing, settlement, and risk management into a single stack.
Unlike consumer-facing exchanges, ATLAS allows third-party entities to maintain their own user interfaces and branding while utilizing LayerZero’s infrastructure. The platform aims for high performance, targeting 200,000 transactions per second at launch, with long-term aspirations to reach 2 million transactions per second via zero-knowledge proof architecture.
The announcement has significantly impacted the ZRO token, which saw price increases ranging from 16% to over 30%. The token will serve as the gas, governance, and security mechanism for the Zero network, and LayerZero plans to use 75% of remaining Open ATLAS fees to buy and burn ZRO. Institutional interest is supported by partners and investors including Citadel Securities, Intercontinental Exchange (ICE), DTCC, and ARK Invest.
