Laysa Latifah earns Woman Grandmaster title at Chess Olympiad

Indonesian chess player Laysa Latifah has earned the Woman Grandmaster (WGM) title following her performance at the 2026 Chess Olympiad in Uzbekistan.

To recognize this achievement, the Jakarta Indonesian Chess Association (Percasi DKI Jakarta) has prepared a development bonus of Rp50 million for Latifah. The announcement was made by Percasi DKI Jakarta Chairman Hardiyanto Kenneth during the opening of the Governor's Cup Regional Championship in Jakarta on October 3, 2026.

Kenneth stated that Latifah's success is intended to serve as motivation for young chess players in the capital. This achievement brings the organization closer to its goal of producing four Grandmasters from Jakarta, a target previously communicated to Jakarta Governor Pramono Anung.
