Lazada fined 350 million VND for misleading consumers in Vietnam
The National Competition Commission of Vietnam has issued an administrative fine of 350 million VND against Recess Co., Ltd., the operator of the e-commerce platform Lazada in Vietnam. The penalty was issued following a decision on July 9 regarding violations in the field of consumer rights protection.
The commission determined that Lazada engaged in behavior that misled consumers by providing inaccurate information regarding the services offered by the company. In addition to the fine, the commission has ordered Recess Co., Ltd. to promptly rectify the violations and proactively review its information disclosure processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with consumer protection laws.
Recess Co., Ltd., which is registered in Ho Chi Minh City, has reportedly cooperated with the commission by providing requested documents and implementing recommendations. Lazada is owned by the Alibaba Group and operates as one of the major e-commerce players in Southeast Asia.
