Lazarus Group moves $19.4 million in Bitcoin
The North Korea-linked Lazarus Group has reactivated its cryptocurrency wallets, moving 244.148 Bitcoin (BTC) valued at approximately $19.42 million. According to blockchain intelligence firms Arkham Intelligence and Lookonchain, this movement marks an exit from “sleep mode” for these specific wallets.
Analysts note that such activity often precedes a laundering cycle, which typically involves splitting funds across multiple addresses, mixing them through privacy services, and eventually cashing out via over-the-counter platforms or peer-to-peer services. While the transaction is significant, experts suggest it is unlikely to directly impact Bitcoin's market price due to the asset's high daily trading volume.
The group maintains a substantial consolidated portfolio, including over $20 million in Bitcoin, as well as millions of dollars in Ethereum (ETH), Tether (USDT), and Binance Coin (BNB). This recent transfer follows another large movement in August, where the group transferred 262.2 BTC valued at roughly $16.64 million.
