Lazio and Naples overhaul bus and rail schedules ahead of summer 2026

From 13 July 2026 an extensive reorganization of local public transport will take effect in Lazio. The plan covers network units 2, 3, 7 and 10 and introduces new bus links to railway stations, higher frequencies for commuters and workers, and adjustments to routes in dozens of municipalities such as Pomezia, Anzio, Valmontone and Montebuono. Giuseppe Simeoni, administrator of Astral Spa, said the changes aim to "offer a service closer to the daily needs of travelers, strengthen strategic links with stations and reduce waiting times between buses and trains."

On 11 July 2026 Naples reported a routine day for public transport: metro lines, buses and funiculars operated on regular schedules, with no strikes planned. Ongoing construction on tram lines and road works continues, and further modifications are scheduled to start on 13 July, including temporary bus stop relocations and lane restrictions. The update noted possible residual delays on regional trains after a recent strike.
