Lazio archaeological sites receive new promotion and restoration

Archaeological and cultural heritage sites in the Lazio region of Italy are undergoing new promotional and restorative efforts. In Cerveteri, a promotional stand has been established at Rome's Termini Station through the end of October. This initiative, part of the Visit Lazio program, aims to showcase the UNESCO World Heritage site of the Banditaccia Necropolis and the National Cerite Museum to the millions of travelers passing through Italy's largest railway hub.

In Vetralla, structural recovery work has been completed at the Temple of Demetra, a millenary rock-cut sanctuary located in the Macchia delle Valli woods. Dating back to between the third and second centuries BCE, the site is a significant example of Etrusco-Roman religious practices. Following technical inspections by local authorities and the Superintendency, the site is scheduled for an official reopening in late October 2026. The restoration included improving visitor safety and cleaning a monumental ancient spring while maintaining the natural landscape.
