Lazio defender Nuno Tavares transforms under Gennaro Gattuso

Lazio defender Nuno Tavares has undergone a tactical and psychological transformation under coach Gennaro Gattuso. Originally focused on wing play, Tavares is now being utilized to attack central areas of the pitch, a shift that was evident in recent match performances.

The revitalization follows a period of uncertainty during the summer transfer window. After an initial meeting in Marbella between Gattuso and Tavares, the player showed signs of dissatisfaction during July training sessions, leading to interest from clubs including Besiktas, Porto, and teams in Saudi Arabia. Lazio reportedly rejected loan offers, seeking a permanent sale of approximately 15 million euros.

However, Tavares has recently regained his starting position following the setback of teammate Pedraza, demonstrating renewed dedication in training and adapting to Gattuso’s specific tactical instructions.
