Lazio faces €13 million obstacle to selling striker Petar Ratkov
Petar Ratkov joined Lazio for a €13 million fee but has struggled for playing time, prompting speculation that a move to the German Bundesliga could be his next option. The club’s management, led by coach Gennaro Gattuso, is reluctant to sell the youngster for the same amount, citing the financial risk of recouping their investment.
Director Stefano Mattei indicated that Lazio needs at least two centre‑forwards and that finding a buyer willing to meet the original price is difficult. He also highlighted broader squad deficiencies, including a lack of midfield creativity and a reliable ball‑playing goalkeeper, which complicates any immediate transfer.
Overall, Lazio’s market activity this summer remains limited as the club evaluates how to balance its roster needs with the high cost of retaining or off‑loading Ratkov.
