Lazio fans boycott home matches to protest president Claudio Lotito

Lazio supporters are conducting a widespread boycott of home matches at the Stadio Olimpico, leading to significantly empty stands despite the team's strong start to the season. The protest is directed specifically at club president Claudio Lotito, who has led the institution since 2004.

Fans have expressed dissatisfaction with Lotito's management, accusing him of stifling the club's ambitions and prioritizing political influence over footballing success. The scale of the protest is reflected in ticket sales, with season ticket holders dropping from approximately 30,000 last season to fewer than 4,500 this season.

Lazio manager Gennaro Gattuso has voiced his frustration regarding the lack of atmosphere, stating that football without fans is diminished. While supporters are boycotting the stadium, many continue to show support for the players by gathering at training centers or watching matches in local cafes rather than attending the games in person.
