Lazio club faces €20 million hit as fans boycott matches

Organised Lazio supporters have escalated their protest against club president Claudio Lotito, continuing a boycott of home games and refusing season‑ticket purchases and TV‑subscription payments. The fans say the action is meant to pressure Lotito to sell the club, accusing him of prioritising personal interests over the team.

The boycott is projected to cost Lazio around €20 million, including an estimated €8‑9 million loss from season tickets and a further €3 million in match‑day revenue that would have been generated by a full Stadio Olimpico. The club may partially offset the hit through a €15‑18 million TV‑rights settlement with Lega Serie A and a new sponsorship deal worth about €20 million.

Former Lazio player Luigi Martini also weighed in, writing on social media that the club is “ill” and needs a “strong and immediate cure,” echoing fan frustration and calling for decisive action from the board.
