Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas shines in victory over Venezia

Lazio goalkeeper Christos Mandas delivered a standout performance in a 2-0 Serie A victory against Venezia, earning the match MVP award. Mandas recorded seven saves, including a crucial penalty stop in the 17th minute that prevented Venezia from taking the lead.

Following the match, Lazio manager Gennaro Gattuso praised the Greek goalkeeper, stating that Mandas saved the team during a difficult first half where they were vulnerable to conceding multiple goals. Gattuso noted that while the team made mistakes early on, Mandas kept them in the game, allowing for a stronger second-half performance.

In related comments regarding squad management, Gattuso addressed the club's decision not to pursue striker Mauro Icardi. He took responsibility for the choice, explaining that while acknowledging Icardi's quality, the addition would not have aligned with the team's tactical planning or roster needs, especially after securing players like Pinamonti and Gudmundsson.
