Lazio hosts exhibition on Pasolini and Dante Ferretti collaboration
The “Bellezza imperfetta. Io e Pasolini” exhibition has been presented at the Lazio Regional Council in Italy. The showcase explores the significant artistic partnership between director Pier Paolo Pasolini and production designer Dante Ferretti.
Running from November 9 to December 2, the exhibition features 30 sketches and materials related to the eight films the duo created together, spanning from “The Gospel According to St. Matthew” (1964) to “Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom” (1975). Ferretti, who began his career as an assistant on Pasolini’s 1964 film, worked alongside the director until his final production.
Curator David Miliozzi described the collaboration as culturally essential, highlighting the creative process and the concept that beauty is inherently imperfect. The exhibition aims to document the professional bond between one of Italy’s most influential 20th-century intellectuals and an emblematic production designer.
