Lazio launches integrated public‑transport network with unified ticket and rail upgrades

The Lazio region announced a redesign of its mobility system, creating an “Unità di Rete” that groups the 370 municipalities into 11 territorial units. The scheme eliminates fragmented services by offering a single ticket priced at €1.50, allowing passengers to travel across the units without changing buses. Astral, led by CEO Giuseppe Simeone, will implement the plan.

Key infrastructure projects include doubling the railway line on the Rome‑Viterbo‑Civita Castellana corridor and installing seismic “shock‑transmitter” devices on the Ponte Tevere bridge – the first such system on an Italian railway bridge. The project also foresees opening the Piazzale Flaminio rail link. To enable the bridge works, urban rail service between Flaminio and Montebello will be suspended from 10 August to 23 August, with bus replacements; a partial resumption is scheduled for 24 August–6 September and full service expected from 7 September.
