Lazio targets free‑move Dutch defender Danilho Doekhi

Italian club Lazio is in the final stages of securing Dutch centre‑back Danilho Doekhi on a free transfer after his contract with Union Berlin ended. Reports from Fabrizio Romano, Matteo Moretto and other media indicate that Doekhi will travel to Rome for a medical and contract signing, with the move expected to be completed within days.

Doekhi, 28, brings experience from the Eredivisie, Vitesse and four seasons in the Bundesliga, including European competition appearances. His addition comes as Lazio rebuilds a defence weakened by the departures of Mario Gila to AC Milan and Alessio Romagnoli, who is set to join Al‑Sadd. The club is also monitoring other targets such as Sergi Domínguez and former teammate Diogo Leite, but the free‑agent Doekhi is seen as a zero‑cost solution to add physicality and leadership.

Separately, Lazio has been reported to be in contact with Spanish goalkeeper Pau López, though the focus remains on bolstering the back line with Doekhi.
