Lazio needs €19.5 million to lift transfer‑market freeze
Italian Serie A club Lazio has exceeded the FIGC’s extended labour‑cost index, recording a ratio of 0.822 against the allowed ceiling of 0.7. The breach forces the club to keep its summer transfer activity balanced or to inject roughly €19.5 million to bring the index back within limits.
Without such capital, Lazio must rely on player sales to generate funds. Potential departures include defender Matteo Cancellieri, linked with Olympiacos, and goalkeeper Christos Mandas, whose buy‑out clause is €17.5 million. The club has also been linked with young targets such as Arnau Martinez and Dominguez, each priced around €10 million, but acquiring them would require matching outgoing transfers.
The club’s options to meet the requirement include capital contributions from owners, increasing share capital, or other financial mechanisms permitted by the federation.
