Lazio president Claudio Lotito faces fan criticism over club leadership

Journalist and long‑time Lazio supporter Michele Plastino wrote an open letter urging President Claudio Lotito to put the club’s fans first. Plastino recalled the club’s historic hardships and coined the term “lazialità” to describe its unique spirit. He argued that “basterebbe che il presidente… dica semplicemente ‘Viva la lazialità’” to restore hope among supporters.

Former defender Luciano Zauri also recounted his early encounters with Lotito, describing the atmosphere as “teso” and saying “Il primo impatto fu difficile, durante le riunioni avvertivamo una mano pesante che non ci lasciava spazio per esprimere idee liberamente.” Zauri’s comments underline ongoing tensions between the club’s management and its members.

Both pieces highlight growing discontent among Lazio fans, who accuse Lotito of neglecting their loyalty and call for a change in tone and priorities to revive the club’s unity and performance.
