Lazio pursues goalkeeper Mandas as Rome stadium projects advance

Lazio coach Gennaro Gattuso has identified Greek keeper Christos Mandas as the club’s preferred first‑choice goalkeeper, but the final move depends on Bournemouth exercising a buy‑back clause. The €18 million option, set in January, expires on 15 June; if Bournemouth does not act, Mandas will return to Lazio as starter.

Mayor Roberto Gualtieri reported that Rome’s two new stadium projects are moving forward. Roma’s Pietralata stadium is approved for a 60,605‑seat arena costing about €1.38 billion, with plans for extensive urban redevelopment, including parks and cycling paths. Lazio’s Flaminio redevelopment aims for a 50,000‑seat venue, with construction expected to start in early‑2027 and finish by 2032.
