Lazio Region extends local public transport reform deadline

The Lazio Region has extended the deadline for launching local public transport (TPL) network units to December 31, 2026. This extension was established through an amendment to the 2026 budget variation proposal.

Presented by Budget Assessor Giancarlo Righini in coordination with Transport Assessor Fabrizio Ghera and proposed by the Fratelli d'Italia group, the measure aims to provide local territories with additional time to organize the transport reform. Daniele Sabatini, the group leader for Fratelli d'Italia in the Lazio Region, stated that the delay follows requests from local areas to better prepare for the reorganization. The extension is intended to facilitate ongoing discussions between the Region, Astral, and various municipalities to resolve organizational issues and criticalities identified during the process.
