Lazio region initiates urban regeneration for former Santo Spirito Institute

An agreement has been reached for the urban regeneration of the former Pio Istituto Santo Spirito lands, involving the Lazio Region, Asl Roma 5, and the municipalities of Tivoli and Guidonia Montecelio. The deal aims to reorganize the territory and address long-standing urban planning issues.

The project faces significant social challenges regarding families who have built homes on the land over several decades. Marco Bertucci, President of the Lazio Regional Council Budget Commission, emphasized that housing is a primary social issue and that the administrative process is essential to provide legal clarity for those living in a regulatory limbo.

Local political representatives from Forza Italia have called for concrete actions rather than just announcements. They stressed the need to address the legal and housing security of residents and resolve pending judicial disputes to ensure that urban regeneration includes the protection of the people currently living on the site.
