Lazio Region intervenes in Velletri and Lariano social services deadlock
The Lazio Region has exercised its substitute power to intervene in the management of social services for the RM 6.5 socio-sanitary district, which includes the municipalities of Velletri and Lariano. This decision follows a prolonged deadlock regarding the signing of a necessary associative convention.
The impasse began after the previous agreement expired in June 2024. Despite multiple interventions from the Regional Directorate for Social Inclusion—including a formal warning in December 2025 and a follow-up request in May 2026—the two municipalities failed to reach an agreement. Lariano had previously reported difficulties communicating with Velletri, which was designated as the lead entity under the former convention.
As a result of the lack of progress and communication from the municipalities, the Regional Council has appointed a commissioner to oversee the formalization of the agreement and ensure the continued provision of social services and interventions.
