Rome traffic and environmental regulations update
Rome is facing potential changes to its ZTL Fascia Verde environmental zone. The current ordinance, which restricts highly polluting vehicles, is set to expire on October 31, 2026. Mayor Roberto Gualtieri is reportedly considering a renewal of these restrictions to manage air quality, though a definitive official measure is still pending.
Traffic conditions in the capital have been heavily impacted by various factors. Recent reports indicate significant congestion on the Via Aurelia due to accidents near Torrimpietra, as well as delays on the A24 and the Grande Raccordo Anulare. Additionally, the Civil Protection agency has issued an orange alert for the Lazio region, warning of adverse weather conditions and advising caution for motorists, particularly on the A12 highway.
In other regional news, the cultural project ‘Opera’ is launching a new cycle titled ‘Natura Contemporanea’ at Villa Sciarra in Rome, focusing on the relationship between art, landscape, and the environment.
