Lazio Region launches environmental education project in schools

The Lazio Region is launching the ‘DJ Ric e i PlasticSound’ project, an environmental education initiative designed to teach students about proper waste management and sustainability. Starting next week, the program will visit schools across Rome and various provinces within the Lazio region.

To engage younger generations, the project utilizes creative methods such as comics, theater, music, and creative workshops. The curriculum focuses on the principles of reduction, reuse, recycling, and waste sorting. Younger children will participate in interactive educational shows featuring the characters DJ Ric and the PlasticSound, while older students will engage in musical and creative writing workshops.

This initiative is part of a broader regional effort, with the Lazio Region having invested over 60 million euros to promote a circular economy, modernize waste collection, and improve recycling treatment plants. Fabrizio Ghera, the Regional Councilor for the Waste Cycle, stated that the campaign aims to show young people that respecting the environment can be a creative and shared experience.
