Lazio Region prepares appeal and payment regarding San Raffaele settlement

The Lazio Region is preparing a legal appeal against a Council of State ruling concerning the San Raffaele hospital. During a regional transparency commission hearing, Health Director Andrea Urbani announced that the administration has mandated the State Attorney's Office to file the appeal while simultaneously arranging the payment of the undisputed portion of the compensation.

The ruling recognizes approximately 60 million euros, plus roughly 16.9 million euros for monetary revaluation and legal interest. However, interpretative uncertainty remains regarding the calculation of interest based on the sentence's wording and technical expertise. To address this, the regional government has proposed a budget coverage of 82 million euros—a prudential estimate higher than the 77 million euros indicated by the State Attorney's Office—to ensure resources are available even under the most unfavorable scenarios.

The payment will cover the amount deemed certain, while the region seeks clarification from the Council of State regarding the disputed interest before proceeding with the full disbursement. These resources will be drawn from the National Health Fund.
